Apparently Nintendo is going to release exclusive eu version switch 2 with swappable battery due to eu consumer friendly regulations. Of course they won't release it here in the US because we don't have the same requirements. People should really boycott these greedy companies that do the bare minimum for the consumers.

Why not buy $500 worth of eShop card for $450 and then buy it from eShop? It'll be a 10% discount
That's what I'm planning on doing. It was an even better deal at Black Friday when the gift cards were 20% off, but that was limited to $500 so only got one console at that price.

Speaking totally pragmatically, a warning... Costco has become quite bearish on returns of stuff like this after a long time period. The manager does have the discretion to simply deny a return if it's 'unreasonable.'. Corporate won't step in to help either, from my experience, and will repeat this discretion line to you.

Anecdotally, My friends experience backed up like as well. She returned her Xbox Series S just over three years after purchase because of the increase in game pass pricing. Her store hemmed and hawwed and finally gave her a Costco cash card. Definitely something one could've fought harder for for...but it's definitely not as easy anymore like it used to be ... And this friend, she has returned less than five things in a decade. Not a serial returner.

For best results, you need to use a non-human to get the return done... But after my 20+ years on SD, id say that in 2026, there are simply better places and methods to arbitrage your tech purchases.

Fully expect the thumbs down to come at me from the Costco glazers, but it is what it is. 🥱
I won't thumbs down you, who cares about that. I will say however that your friend is precisely the reason why Costco has become "bearish". Using a gaming console for three years (!!!) and then deciding to return it. They should have told her no, straight up no haggling. No cash card. This isn't some misplaced allegiance to a corporate entity (eww gross) but your friend's behavior is problematic and if you can't see the clear connection to her behavior and the changing return policy perspective of Costco, then I can't help you.

I just dont understand why people use it for 2+ years and return anything. For your friend who returned Xbox, it was not costco's fault that the game pass price was raised. That kind of behavior and I may say "hobo / ghetto" mind set eventually drive out all physical retail stores for closure.

This is the reason why retail gets worse in terms of customer service and rights to the consumer. The stores have to get more stringent with rules and returns because there are the extreme privileged consumers who exploit the store and just make it worse for everyone else. Is it Costco's fault for game pass going up? This is why we can't have nice things.

Corporations are doing this because the general public is completely clueless about the power of boycotting. Remember how fools are keep buying nvidia gpu after they created the artificial supply shortage and scalping market during the pandemic. Of course not.

The price of gas went up, I think I'll bring my 3 year old car with 65k miles back to the dealership.

Obviously facetious, your friend is the worst the only "warning" I'm taking away from your comment is that we're subsidizing awful peoples' entitlement by shopping at Costco.
