Rubberwood is a solid wood. It's a tree species imported from asia. It's not a bad wood, it's just not as pretty as oak, maple, hickory, etc. it's cheap because rubberwood serves a dual purpose (production of rubber, and then when it gets older, they sell wood for furniture and other uses)
