I grabbed one of these to solve a few problems I had with the Ikea 45W (which was my favorite travel charger). A few thoughts:
  • End to end, this charger is the same length as the Ikea 45w, but since the prongs fold, it's notably more compact length wise
  • The Anker is a perfect square versus the Ikea rectangle, but the square is almost the same size as the shorter side of the Ikea; this solves coffee shops where the power plugs are sideways against the table and you can't plug the ikea in (which I've run into). I've also run into this using AC plugs in airplanes as well (blocking the second outlet).
  • The 27W/20W power split is much better for a laptop + phone, though the 22W/22W on the Ikea served me well enough
  • I appreciate that it doesn't disconnect/connect the existing connection when I unplug or plug in a second device
  • Despite what I saw someone say elsewhere, two cables does not lock in split power; I can have two cables plugged in and my laptop shows the full 45W, but drops to 27W once a second device is connected.
  • The power is not dynamic; top port closest to the iQ logo is the higher power port, bottom one is lower
For $19, this is my ideal travel charger. I want small, easy to pack and powerful enough to charge my phone and laptop while I work. Paired with a set of solid cables, and you're basically good to go.
