I would tend to agree with you, but the "Materials & Care" section claims these are microwavable.

Also, per Alexa, when I asked:
Yes, the S'well Stainless Steel Food Canister Set is microwaveable. You can reheat your food directly in the containers without any issues. They're also dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. One thing to note: customers mention that the stainless steel exterior can get hot quickly when microwaving, so be careful when removing from the microwave.

Great for lunch, but as storageware, 24 oz, and 5.2" is a little small for more than two people.

I have these and like them, although the paint started to peel and flake in dishwasher even though the description says dw-safe
