Because they sound a lot better? Why buy a ribeye when ground beef is cheaper? Why buy a Mercedes when a Kia Rio is much cheaper?

One time I put a japanese waygu ribeye into the meat grinder to make burgers. Will never do that again.

Sorry I asked.
The sound of earbuds is limited by physics and the current components that are available. There isn't some alien future tech that these companies are using.
But to be clear here is what you get for an extra $100-$130 relative to a p40i
  • Has LDAC
  • 2 more microphone(s) 8vs6
  • 1 more live Bluetooth connections 3vs2
  • Has in/on-ear detection
  • 20000 Hz higher high-frequency 40000 Hzvs20000 Hz
  • 0.5 hours longer battery life (ANC) 7 hoursvs6.5 hours

Sound quality is slightly better without adjustments.
A rating of 70 points vs 74 points.
Also important is how they fit which is very subjective.
Not worth it for me personally.
This comparison is more like a ribeye from 2 different cows not 2 different cuts a beef.

One common thing I read about with the Technics buds, the 80s and 100s on Reddit is one bud dies rather quickly. Sometimes just before warranty and sometimes just after.

I'm sure they sound great but it feels like it's an issue at a higher rate than most of the other brands.
