just keep in mind, these things tout themselves as "oilless design" like it is a positive feature. when in reality it means you have to manually oil the chain regularly to keep it from wearing out the chain and bar very quickly.

Depending on the diameter of the wood you are cutting, it can take a long time and a lot of battery with a recip saw. This would go through much quicker.

2 at Alexandria (S. Pickett)

good luck!

I'm assuming you would want much more than a 2 Ah battery for this to function adequately.
The amp-hour rating has no bearing on how much power the battery can deliver, just how long it will last in delivering it. A bigger ryobi battery will do more cuts on one charge, but won't do those cuts any better than the 2 Ah.

Dang, I would totally get this if there was a store fairly near by, since I have other Ryobi tools. I have a Kobalt pruner, one and only Kobalt, still returnable even. Nice post OP!

I have a knockoff ($20 and 6") of this that pops up pretty often on Slickdeals. Absolutely amazing for 2"-5" diameter trimming. Though, I don't know that I'd like it as much for $90 but it's been a joy to use versus a recip saw on the same sized trimmings.

I bought their pole saw assuming you can just attach it to the end to make it hand saw, but strangely they did not allow that, I guess they want to sell another tool like this one, made no sense to me, but if I can find it for $100 I might get it, though I got way too many batteries at this point, wish it was $50 without batteries or charger...

I love my saw. I use it to cut larger fallen branches into more manageable pieces for the fire pit.

I have one of these and I love it. Great for cleaning up all the smaller branches. A two handed lopper can handle most of the same stuff, but with the little chainsaw, you can hold the piece and one hand and just chop off 2' sections directly into a wheelbarrow or yard cart rather than having to pickup all the cut pieces off the ground. Mine has lasted through any projects I did with normal 4ah battery.
Only thing I don't like is it doesn't have a reservoir for bar/chain oil. I typically loosen the chain and pour some around the bar and run it a few times to distribute it. They claim you don't need it but other small saws do have them?

That is incorrect. It depends on the tool, but there are 'HP' connections on larger capacity batteries that allow the tool to pull more current.

Same boat. I undertand the flexibility of a same-battery ecosystem, but I'm here to save money more than to be convenienced. (Plus, my knockoff came with a case to house the tool, charger, and two batteries, speaking of convenience.)

Mostly true too, but the high performance connecion is a different product line basically. High performance batteries come in 2 ah size too.

Regarding the saw, I picked one up in Cypress ca. It says it has 3 in the clearence endcap, but there was none. An employee found one on the shelves above the regular lawn tools section for ryobi. Unsure if there were two more up there, there was only one where it was pulled
