I've only had AMD GPUs since my first build in maybe...2017? I've only had an issue one time with drivers causing my game to crash. I looked up the stable version, downgraded versions, then updated later down the road. I haven't had any problems after that.

The only downside of AMD GPUs is they can run a little hot and there's a few games that can benefit from color/visual settings(advantages) only provided by NVIDIA.(Which is more cheesy than anything...) There's typically an equal (or slightly less aventageous) setting in AMD drivers, but it can take some searching to find them.

I would love to buy this over the Nvidia 5070 but I do a lot of video work and AMD still doesn't play (as) nicely with Adobe. The 5070 only has 12GB ram and is slower in games but it's almost twice as quick in after effects

I have been very happy with the performance of this card in my setup. Good price to performance.

i just wish it had 3 displayport instead of 2 and 2 hdmi.
I've got the Asus version of this and Asus actually does have 3 DP and one HDMI ports. It can be a real pain in the arse to try and run 3 monitors with two platforms sometimes if you don't have 3 of the same ports. My Win 10 machine only had two DP ports and it wouldn't work to run 2 DP off the MB and 1 HDMI off the GPU using a mechanical KVM. Cables can be misleading and expensive if you try to match DP/HDMI. I'm not quite finished with setup for training LLMs so I haven't pressed it but the 9070XT runs most quant 4-6 very well on my machine.

The last card I had 6950xt only had three small issues over there or four months within the 3+ years I used the card, still using it actually. It has been an overwhelmingly great experience, the issues were more annoying than horrible and were fixed quickly. I would say from what I have heard they are 90-95 percent problem free now with the 9000 series, I bought two of these in black for me and the wife. I'm just waiting to see if the price drops more on prime day so I can return them and get it for a bit less money. This is also a pretty damn good model for a 9070 xt for the price.

Nah you better of with Nvidia cards for AI at the moment. But you pay more for it too though.
What kind of AI can one do on middle of the pack cards like this one or lets say a 5070ti?

I think it is because it offers too little over the competition and it came out too late. Therefore, can only compete on price.

So it's not a case of bad product, rather bad price positioning. So the sale we are seeing is really just the better positioned retail price. And if we looking for an actual deal, wait for it to drop below 650 then?

I think I had that exact same crash and had to downgrade that one time. But amd has been good to me for a long time now. (knock on wood)

That is IMHO. As for the wait...hard to say. Waiting doesn't mean cheaper anymore because of the stupid supply demand turbulence.
