DeerValley's one piece smart bidet toilet stands out for a feature packed, easy to clean design with heated seat, warm bidet functions, night lights, and auto wash. The smooth vertical sides and pre bowl flush help keep the ceramic bowl cleaner, and the powerful flush with bubble shield has been credited with reducing clogs. Installation can be DIY friendly, but it needs a nearby electrical outlet and may require an electrician. Power outages are another limitation because flushing depends on electricity, though some versions include battery backup.

  • DIY installers replacing a standard toilet, because it can be installed in under an hour and has been running well for months to years.

  • People who want easier bowl cleaning, because the smooth vertical sides wipe down easily and the pre-bowl flush helps reduce staining.

  • Homeowners wanting an integrated bidet toilet with strong flushing, because it has a powerful flush and bubble shield that reduce clogging.

  • Night-time bathroom users who want a heated seat and warm wash, because the heated seat and warm bidet feel like a game changer.

  • Households that need flushing during outages, because it cannot flush when the power is out unless a backup battery option is included.

  • Buyers who want easy future repairs, because parts availability is described as slim and a failure may force replacing the whole unit.

  • Older homes without a nearby outlet, because the toilet needs electrical power by the bowl and may require hiring an electrician.

  • Families with frequent large waste loads, because it is described as prone to clogging with big drops.

Also keep in mind that these toilets don't flush in a power outage. I have a Horow and love it....but last month we lost power for four hours. Never thought it would be a big deal until I lost power for more then five minutes. I now have my bathroom circuit on a battery backup.
The Ove models have a built-in battery backup.

I refuse to own another toto. They change designs which makes it impossible to get replacement parts, and they are the only toilet I have ever owned that had algae issues even with their special sani clean bowl treatment.

UPDATE: Just saw @joeshmo1234's post confirming you can NOT flush these during a power outage.
Original post: Can these tankless toilets flush when the power is out? The enhanced flushing mechanism described seems power-assisted.

Bidet is the guy who invented the toilet?
Technically, it was Thomas Crapper that improved existing flush toilet designs (originally invented by Sir John in 16th or so century) in the way we use nowadays for the most parts. To my understanding, eventually Crapper became a brand name attached to a device. Pretty much like Xerox and such.

As a developer, that built many ecommerce stores since the early 2000s I can assure you there are many ways to skin that cat. To oversimplify it for non tech folks, think cookies as one of the methods.

I have water well, so no power = no water anyway Smilie
But thinking out loud about this product. I have a nice higher end TOTO washlet, that sits on a regular toilet. If anything happens to the toilet - I replace it and keep the washlet. If anything happens to washlet, then I replace it and keep the toilet. Otherwise I will need to replace the entire unit, including part that is still working. pretty much like any 2 in one combo - washer/dryer, DVD/VCR etc.
I definitely see the appeal, and there are many valid reasons to buy it. But this particular cons outweighs many pros for me personally.

Actually, some models come with a backup battery box (mine holds 8 AA batteries) for this scenario.

I sprung a little more for this model in order to have this option: DV-1S0371-V3

Did you say they are crap? LOL.

I don't know how many people actually share great reviews, so I'm sure there is a bias towards complaints.

I've posted my review earlier in this thread.

Very good quality on the ceramic bowl.
Features all work as advertised.

Installed myself (DIY) and it has been running well over the last 6 mos.

Anyone know what the average cost to install would be? For someone who isn't handy enough to install it themselves

A quick AI search shows:

$100-$250 for labor via handyman services.

Double that for licensed plumber.

FYI - they may also charge to dispose of your old toilet. To save $$$, take it outside, wrap in a cheap Harbor Freight tarp and use sledgehammer to smash it into manageable pieces (wear goggles/face shield) you can throw out with your normal trash pickup.

Luckily for me, my 2 piece tank toilet fit in my large trash bin when separated.

I have the two piece setup and want to switch to integrated because the bidet seat doesn't fit the toilet perfectly, so there are gaps and crevices where there shouldn't be.

How does the OP toilet compare to this one? https://www.homedepot.com/p/TOTTE.../341650825

The TOTTE comes with foam shield too which isn't on this Deer Valley model.
