I'm very much a novice DIYer and had no idea such a tool even exists. So amazing and I can't imagine the difference in results vs doing it by hand and cleaning up etc.

If you are skim-coating (aka smooth finish) your walls, this is a must-have. That being said, Wen makes a model that is far cheaper, and works just as well as the more expensive brands like Bosch or Festool. If I was doing drywall work full-time or as part of handyman business, I might consider investing in one of these more expensive models. The ability to attach it to a shop vac is what makes this tool so useful, since it minimizes (not eliminates) the dust output (when used with the proper dust filtration bag in the shop vac).
