Seems like great option if your are ok not having duplex scan and copy. I'm on the fence because of lack of duplex.

Purchased this same deal last month but it does not come with the 3000 page black toner. My understanding is that the higher yield toner is 229XL, it's just a 229 possibly a starter cartridge. Also the 30 day return is at your expense.

Toner in general does not go bad like the ink in inkjets. Had an inkjet years ago & it's such a PITA if you don't print frequently. Constantly clogged heads & dried out ink. 1 toner cartridge can last years if you don't print frequently. If it sits a long time without printing just shake it up a little bit to loosen up the toner before printing again & you're good to go.

Forgot to comment on the last time this was posted, but I was able to get one of these after trying two different credit cards (kept declining I think due to different billing address). Printer was delivered in about a week, shipped in manufacturer box. No issues setting up on my phone, MacBook, and Windows. Just kept offering the subscription and asking me to update, which I didn't. To the previous people's posts, I honestly can't tell if it's refurb or brand new. It has zero signs of use, so I think it's new. Haven't used it beyond a test print, but I'm happy so far. I was able to get it for about $270 all told. I live chat with the customer service and asked if I could get a $50 coupon bc my family has had many Brother printers and products over the years (true), the rep got back to me after a few minutes and said best they can do is 40 which is perfectly fine for me. So $280-40+NY tax, free ground shipping, came to about $270.

Nope. You could let this printer sit unused for years and come back and it will print just as well as the last day you used it.

I've had a black-and-white Brother printer/scanner/copier for more than 10 years. Not a single issue, and super-cheap toner cartridges. The last time I needed a color copy was last Christmas, and I went to Staples

Also team I've had a brother laser printer for over a decade. Think I changed toner once. Never had an issue. Bought a new one for my Gf two years ago and proved to her that they are the best. If you hate printers buy a brother laser printer. It will change your mind.

I'm looking for some advice. My needs are color prints for kid projects and photos. We print a lot and then nothing for months. I tried the Epson Ink Tank - I think 2988. Photos were good, but not great. Black text and regular color was awful - everything looked like draft quality - not dark enough and very dithered.

So, I'm thinking of this printer + Canon SELPHY CP1500 https://www.bestbuy.com/product/c...ku/6521753 + local/mail photo prints.

Is that a good idea? Or is it overly expensive/complicated?

Also, is refurb great quality - new, this printer is $459 at Costco - https://www.costco.com/.product.4000235251.html .

Laser printers are not clear enough for photo prints.

Exact reason why I made my mom switch a few weeks ago to laser. Ink is a pain and it dries too fast.
