Harbor Freight's ICON magnetic tool mat is a compact, strong-holding mat that works well for garage, mechanic, gunsmithing, and handyman tasks. The magnets are described as very strong, with real-world use holding cast iron, a 25 pound brake rotor, and even a rotor against a quarter panel while pads are changed. It is also handy for keeping sockets and small tools from wandering, and the mat measures 11 5 eighths by 9 5 eighths inches. The main caveat is price and stock, since it has bounced from $19.99 to higher tags and is often hard to find in store, though the lifetime warranty adds some reassurance.
Common Questions (5)
The magnets are strong enough to hold heavy cast iron, pans, and even a 25 lb brake rotor against a metal lift post. It can also keep a disc brake rotor attached to a quarter panel while working, making it useful for preventing dropped sockets and loose parts.
Yes. It is used for gunsmithing, mechanic work, handyman tasks, and appliance or HVAC repairs, and it stores easily in a tool backpack or on a tool cart lid.
The $19.99 price is an instant savings, so it is already the sale price rather than a coupon. A later under-$20 sale can stack with an extra 30% off, which would drop it further.
A similar Hyper Tough mat at Walmart is priced around $20 regular price and may qualify for free shipping over $35. A comparable AliExpress version has also been listed around $17, though pricing can vary by account.
The mat measures 11 5/8" x 9 5/8". That size is large enough for typical garage use and for holding several tools or parts at once.

They definitely don't like torches.
That being said, I managed to pick up the meme mat this morning. It is now in a place of high honor on the side of my garage fridge.
