Before someone buys this for the gym or around the town, or even for jogging: this is a racing shoe.

Amazing deal. Lowest price I've seen for the men's pairs. Super tempted but I've got a box fresh pair I might not touch until fall.

I am just a casual runner. Is it bad to train in these top tier racing shoes?

It's a very bad idea. There's an extremely high risk that you will become better at running, get addicted to nice shoes, and want to spend more money. Seriously though, it's not terrible but not ideal. People recommend training in "worse" shoes so you build more strength, and then save race shoes for breaking in and then for the race. Most real runners have a rotation of shoes so you train different muscles and your feet aren't compromised in some way because you only ran in one certain shoe. With that said, just buy these and then also some cheaper shoes too Smilie

Don't do that! Most of your training should be in non-plated shoes, which help build strength and reduce injury risk, while plated shoes are best used occasionally for faster efforts and races.

Not to mention, racing shoes are only meant for around 200 miles or so, so you wont get much training out of them before they lose their pop

I've seen reviews of this shoe being top tier, but I bought a pair and thought it was too narrow. Maybe it runs small, I wasnt a fan. Maybe it has high arches. I have to walk in them a little longer to really decide to keep them.

I've had 2 pairs of AP4 and have needed to up 1/2 size in these.

Just to add on to this, race shoes do lose their edge after 150-200 miles but they can still be a phenomenal training shoe for a lot more miles. Lightstrike Pro (foam used in the AP4) is also known as a very durable top tier foam and many runners have gotten 400-500 miles out of them. I probably wouldn't race in them for that long but I would definitely use for hard workouts in training.
