This open box 75 inch Hisense U7 is mainly appealing as a bright, Google TV mini LED set with strong picture quality, HDR, motion handling, and very good viewing angles. The 75 inch model is described as a VA panel, and the U7 is repeatedly framed as brighter and better suited to a bright room than the cheaper U6. The main tradeoff is open box condition, since some units are floor displays with high hours and missing remotes, stands, or packaging. A discounted Geek Squad warranty is often treated as part of the value, especially when the price lands far below new clearance pricing.

  • The 75-inch U7 is described as having a VA panel, which can support strong contrast performance.

  • The open-box U7 deal can be paired with a heavily discounted Geek Squad warranty for added protection.

  • The TV is rated excellent for picture quality and HDR, with very good viewing angle and motion blur.

  • Free pickup and easy returns can be available even when the open-box TV lacks original packaging.

  • Open-box units can arrive missing key accessories like the stand or remote, which creates setup friction.

  • Some open-box listings labeled "Good" can actually be display models with no box or packaging.

  • The open-box display history can still mean the TV has been left on for long hours, which may increase risk.

  • The U7's brightness advantage may matter less in small dark rooms, making the upgrade from cheaper open-box options less necessary.

They had a good condition at my local best buy. It was the demo unit, 1500 hours but I didn't see any dead pixels or issues with the screen so I picked it up.

Huh?We're are these numbers coming from?24hours in a day times 365 days = 8760 hours in a year. This has been out about 1 full year. BestBuy is generally open about 11 hours per day.11x365=4015 hours per year of display on time if on from open to close. Now it could be more or less depending on how things are set up.Some products (not this exact TV) have 2 or 3 years of display life and so could have over 10k hours on them.
I bought a 65" C4 from Walmart last year for $700ish and it had about 9,000 hours on it so it was probably on nonstop for a bit over a year. Has had zero issues over the past year and no burn in. Definitely took a gamble but figured I could rely on the LG warranty if I had a problem in the first year.

Can an Excellent TV be missing a manual, no box and have been a display / on for some 5000+ hrs? Or is that more of a good tv?

Price dropped today, so grabbed one. My "excellent" had no packaging, remote, or stand despite confirming otherwise with chat. Likely floor model. Manager dropped to $469, so trying it out. I already had extra hisense remote and mounted it, anyway. No burn in and looks amazing so far for price.

I grabbed a U6 75" for 312$+tax. Wonder if it's worth it to return it and get the U7. Had no packaging either. Hard to move it back

I actually ended up returning my 75" U7. The TV was awesome but it was just too big for the room. I was planning to do another $19 Home Depot van rental to take it back but was worried about how to do that with no packaging and timing everything so I could have someone help lift and get it back within the 90-minute rental window. For grins I called BBY to see if they would pick up for a fee. They charge $50 for hail away so I figured it was worth checking in to. To my surprise they scheduled an appointment and picked it up for free. I don't think they're technically supposed to do that for open box unless they delivered it, but regardless, they did and their system seems to allow it. Easy breezy.

I ended up going with a 65" QM6K Pro from Costco and really like it. I can't tell the difference from my 55" QM7K and didn't find it a step down from the 75" U7 other than size. I'm sure if you are really picky, you could probably see the difference. I would pass on the QM5K. I don't think it gets very bright but the QM6K is bright enough, not as bright as the U7, but black levels seem better on the QM6K. The Pro version at Costco is the same display as the QM7K. Costco has the 65-in on sale for $530 with 5 year warranty and size wise it was a better fit for our living room. I was able to knock another $100 off with the Costco Direct $400 promo (padding the order with 4 of the cheapest Costco Direct items in stock as the savings get pro-rated by price should you need to return any of them). I scheduled the TV for pickup at warehouse and later canceled the delivery order as I changed my mind on those items. 😉

That said, if you need a 75-in, this deal on the U7 is hard to beat. Looks like open box prices have dropped another $50 since the original post.
