The Adventurer 5M Pro stands out as the enclosed, filtered version of Flashforge's fast 5M line, with a camera and an extra 0.6 nozzle that make it better suited to advanced materials and remote printing. The enclosure and air filtration are the main reasons it makes sense over the regular 5M, especially for printing ASA or ABS from a room. The main tradeoff is price, since the plain 5M can be upgraded with an enclosure kit and other parts, though that route takes time and can erase much of the savings. It is a stronger fit when those Pro features matter more than the lowest upfront cost.
Makers printing engineering filaments from a room, because the enclosure and air filtration support advanced materials and reduce fumes.
Buyers who want enclosure, filtration, and a camera without piecing together upgrades, because the bundled features cost less than adding them separately.
First-time 3D printer buyers who only need basic PLA printing, because the extra enclosure and filtration features are overkill compared with the cheaper standard model.
Yes. An enclosure kit can be added to the 5M, and the AD5X can also be fitted with enclosure parts and filtration over time, but the DIY route takes extra money, filament, and effort.
The Pro adds an enclosure, camera, air filtration, and an extra 0.6 nozzle. Those extras matter most if you want remote monitoring, cleaner indoor printing, or better support for advanced materials like ASA/ABS.
It can be worth it if you would otherwise buy an enclosure kit and add filtration or a camera, because those upgrades can cost more than the price gap. If you only need a basic printer, the regular 5M is cheaper and can be upgraded later.
Yes, it includes air filtration, which makes it a better fit for printing in a room or for materials that benefit from enclosure and filtration. That feature is one of the main reasons to choose the Pro over the base 5M.
I did forget the filament in my estimate. However, I was able to change the infill on my print job and get it down to about 1.2 rolls. I also found PLA worked for me but either way I was at under $15 in plastic. I got the kit on sale for under $30. However, the Pro is still better in every way other than cost. When I bought my 5M for $240 (2 years back) I probably would have gone for the Pro if the price gap had been just $100 at the time. Back then I think the Pro was close to $400.
Oh, one other advantage to the Pro (at least then) was it came with some additional nozzles.
And I discovered an excellent enclosure alternative on Printables or Thingiverse that used significantly less material...but not until after mine was done printing. 😔
wish I'd seen this before the AD5X deal, would rather have the enclosure/filtration/camera, don't really care about multi color
I mean you can slowly add all that onto the ad5x at some point. If you keep a lookout for deals you might be able to get it all without not having much more than the cost of this in it. Providing you got the ad5x at $205.
I purchased this on Jun 10 using the link in this post, still no updates regarding shipping.
I see the seller is "HomeBox Tools Store" via the link and my orders page.
Wondering if i should keep my order open or cancel it at this point.
Also, my CB did not go through. It's always iffy when using it with AliExpress. :-(
I find AliExpress a bit confusing because it's hard to tell which store I'm buying from up front, making it tricky to distinguish an official Flashforge store from a low-rated seller. I prefer the clarity and ease of navigation on Amazon.
The order was canceled today. Cashback is still pending, but I am sure they will also get dropped. Annoying, as I just purchased quite a bit of filament for this printer.
