As the Freak 7's budget retail price and downgraded construction suggest, the Giannis Freak series has been removed from Nike's high-end signature shoe lineups. But we are glad that the brand at least handled the demotion with some grace and respect for Antetokounmpo, keeping the Freak 7's cushioning, traction, stability, and even durability up to high standards as far as affordable hoop shoes go. While it's not a perfect shoe and you can feel the lower-end materials, the Giannis Freak 7 is a solid option for its new price point.
I purchased the White/black/Neon color online for $58 but these run really big. My normal "Nike Size" is men's 11 but these felt like a size 12.
I have a Dicks "Going Going Gone" location in my city and I went there to exchange for the last 10.5 size they had left but it was OOS. I asked an employee to help me and he found a size 10 which fit me pretty well a little snug but definitely not suffocating. When I lace them up normally I still have a HALF thumbs width of room. I say order 1 size to .5 size down.
I will also say that its YMMV, but in-store price was $29.99 🫨 for the same color. I got the rest of the money back on a gift card to use later.
I will say that I will be stopping by my local Going Going Gone store a little more often 🤣
After Covid my shopping/purchasing habits permanently altered to majority online-first.
I only do brick-mortar for groceries or 1-off purchases I need ASAP.
