KingChii's 456 square inch pellet grill is a budget-friendly smoker that stands out for small-family cooking and basic pellet grilling. The low price is the main draw, and the unit is described as heavy and solid, with parts that closely match Pit Boss and compatible probes available. It can handle two slabs of ribs, though the cooking area feels tight for larger smokes and the grill sits low. Easy ash clean-out is missing, assembly can be involved, and warranty support is reported as weak, so it fits best when price matters more than convenience.
Small-family cooks smoking two slabs of ribs, because the 456-square-inch chamber handles that load easily.
At around $240, it is viewed as a budget-friendly option that is appropriate for the price, especially compared with pricier pellet grills. The tradeoff is weaker warranty support and fewer convenience features than higher-end models.
No easy ash clean-out is built in, so ash removal requires disassembling internal grates and heat-deflector parts to vacuum it out. That makes it less convenient if easy cleanup is a must-have feature.
Yes, it can handle two slabs of ribs easily and is described as a good fit for a small family. The 456 sq in cooking area is still considered tight for larger smokes, and a small pork shoulder is about the upper limit for some uses.
It does not include meat thermometers, and it does not have a direct-heat or sear slider feature. That means it functions more like a smoker than a true grill for high-heat searing.
It can work well, but there are reports of full assembly taking longer than expected and at least one unit arriving with a nonworking auger. Walmart's 90-day return window is useful for testing it thoroughly before that period ends.
I'd like to hear from someone who actually own and used one. Material thickness is very important when it comes to grills and smokers. How's this material wise? Capacity is the second, can you smoke two slabs of pork ribs at once? Just asking.
I bought one of these a few months ago. It works great, and is perfect for my small family. It will do 2 slabs of ribs easily. All the parts are almost exactly the same as pit boss. It does sit low, but it's manageable. Got mine on Amazon, and you can order probes that fit it on there as well.
You need to look for the pellet grills that have a sear feature. My pitboss has it you just have to open the plate before you start grilling and you are good to go. Its way more common now and they use a external handle now so you can open and close the sear plate on the fly instead of before you start grilling like my pellet grill. Yes I saw the charcoal gravity fed ones and reviews on at least the OG version were not great.
too many of them say "sear" but then are only like 600 degrees. My favorite are when they offer pizza ovens that can't get to 900.
