I think they're meant for propagating, at least that's why I use them, use cuttings to make new plants. That requires the water being changed often which should prevent that problem. I have an iguana that eats ivy like crazy so I've been using the clear version of this for 2 years, water with bottled spring water, they still look new.

They're pretty but once they get slimy they never, ever get clean. Hard pass. I just donated the set I owned and would strongly encourage you to get something that can be cleaned more easily.

They're glass right? Can easily clean using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water. Works on moldy plastic steam cleaners, should work excellently on glass. Add a little uncooked rice if you need something to scrape.

Rubbing alcohol and kosher salt can do a number on glass as well without scratching. That's what they use to clean the tar out of smoking pipes.

Great price but you need to clean them constantly or they become impossible to clean. Also, much smaller than the picture makes you belive.
