FYI: AMD Ryzen Embedded R2514 CPU, based on 12nm Zen+, is just 24% better than N100 (10nm) in the regular DXP4800, with higher power consumption and a lack of hardware AV1 support.

A NAS is cheap nowadays, but HDD prices are nearly 4x from 2 years ago.

I hope that crazy prices of HHD guides NAS prices down. I have to upgrade my old Qnap box from 2015

That APU itself has no AV1 support means it will decode the video using software(CPU) decode, which is less efficient (worse than H. 265)

They are generally reviewed well. I have the 2 bay model and it is basically my home "server" running all my docker containers.
The con would be they are a Chinese company...like part of the terms and conditions is that you swear to never say anything negative about China ever lol. But the comparisons to me are qnap, who has gone downhill big time over years, and synology who pulled (and then backtracked) on the lock in on hard drives. So in my humble opinion I think ugreen is the best option these days.

No, you need to purchase those separately.

A lot of people are harping on the CPU transcoding which is worth pointing out, but it's support for ECC memory is the tradeoff imo. 2x10gb networking, ECC memory support and 2 bays supporting U.2 drives at this price point? Very good deal for that. To get comparable specs at this price point you have to DIY: https://nascompares.com/guide/the...5-updated/ . Also worth pointing out the ram is DDR4, which with the prices these days is a plus imo.
I see this as a great prebuilt NAS as part of homelab that separates out compute+storage and wants these specs. If you just want an all in one solution and don't need 2x10gb/ecc/u.2 support the pro or plus model are probably better options

UGREEN has been a pretty solid value with their products. I have their DXP4800 Plus with DDR5 and it's been really solid; however, I did convert the OS to Unraid and had to work around a few issues to make that stable. But I'm more than happy with the performance and reliability once I got those kinks worked out.

Synology is going to be the gold standard for a NAS OS. Fantastic software, probably older hardware. UGREEN's OS isn't as mature, but their hardware tends to be fantastic for the price.
