These ECO-WORTHY 12V 8Ah LiFePO4 batteries look best for small, low power backup or solar setups, especially sheds, lights, or a compact UPS. The chemistry is viewed as safer than other lithium types, and the built in cutoff helps them tolerate deep discharge better than lead acid. The main limitation is output and capacity, with published specs pointing to only 10 amp discharge and very short runtime for high load gear. Compatibility is another concern because many UPS units may not charge LiFePO4 correctly or handle the different battery behavior.

Common Questions (5)

  • Only if your UPS can charge LiFePO4 at the right voltage and current. Many UPS units are set up for SLA batteries and may not charge these properly, and the 8Ah/10A rating can mean only a few minutes of runtime on a typical computer UPS.

  • The published discharge rating is 10A, which works out to about 120W per battery at 12V, or roughly 240W for a typical UPS using both batteries. That makes them fine for low-load gear, but not for high-draw devices like a trolling motor, CPAP, or RV loads.

  • Yes, they fit small off-grid uses well, especially with an 80W-100W solar panel and a cheap charge controller. They are a better match for lights, sheds, and other low-power loads than for long-runtime high-energy devices.

  • Yes, four of these have been wired in series to make a 48V pack for an e-bike and it reportedly works well for extending range. That kind of setup is more about matching voltage for a specific project than using them as a drop-in UPS battery.

  • Yes, in some CyberPower sine-wave UPS setups the UPS can drain the battery until the BMS safety cutoff trips, after which the battery may not charge again. That makes compatibility and charging behavior a real concern for UPS use.

I'd like to assume that if you're looking at this deal then you have some kind of idea of what you're looking for, but with all the battery deals on the FP lately, PLEASE take note:

The 8ah batteries in this deal are VERY low capacity batteries. These would be great hooked up to a small solar panel to keep some lights running or something, but they are not going to run a trolling motor or a CPAP or power an RV or anything with a high load for very long. Even as a UPS, I'd wager you're only getting a few minutes here on a low-wattage rig.

If you're looking for a battery to function as a power source for a high-energy device, then you probably want 100ah or more.

for a computer ups the storage is fine, though

I posted the link to the page with the current draw specification.
The picture in the ebay listing actually has it even lower at 8A max charge/discharge. EEK!

These look like they are meant for a UPS but I can't find the dimensions
Suggest you follow the link posted by @SKHank. In that UK listing, they don't even list UPS as a use case. Specs don't really support using these for a UPS.

Need some for a CyberPower 1285AVR ups, but after reading the posted comments, I don't believe it will charge properly or have enough draw for my PC and monitor and internet.

Can I use one of these things (or a larger Ah one) to power a kids ride on car/truck?

Absolutely if the toy use 12v.

I put 4 of these together in series for 48v and hooked it up to my Ebike to extend my range.
Works great.

I've killed a couple of these in my cyber power sine wave UPSs. The UPS will fully drain these till the BMS safety cuts off the battery and then it won't charge anymore in my experience.

I would be cautious putting these in a UPS. Great price but if you have doubts on lithium batteries is the savings worth it? I am questioning some of the lithium batteries I already have, which are in about everything now.

I too have a dying cyberpower 1500VA UPS and was hoping a quick swap with a LifePO4 battery like this was as simple as plugging it in. But after reading and reading and reading, I decided it wasn't worth the risk for powering my main PC setup which I have built over the years that serve as my workhorse and gaming pc. I did get something like this one though: https://www.amazon.com/GOLDENMATE...9hdGY&th=1

the bottomline for my situation: the old/aging UPS just wouldn't know what to do with the different battery type.
For ~2X the price of that Goldenmate I'd rather build my own with a Victron multiplus + battery and have ~5X the capacity (and be expandable.) UPSs are so damn expensive.
