I recently returned from Asia and am now determined to switch to a bidet. Is this a good choice? Does anyone have good sources on how to decide? This price seems relatively high compared to others I'm seeing, is the extra cost worth it?

Cost / ROI and accessibility since not everyone has power by their toilets. The $30 ones they are just tap water jets. Nothing fancy are pretty good options if you're not in a freezing climate where heat is a must.

I use the ones that aren't heated at my Florida properties since retiring in 2008. Although I do own one actual bidet now the rest of the bathrooms have all had just the cheap bidet seats in them. Works great but if I were still up north I'd want to pay for the heated ones. It's not too expensive to have an electrician put an outlet in by the bidet and then have a drywall person patch it up for you.

There's some stuff you can skip if they aren't a strict requirement.
  • Wireless Remote for a side attached remote
  • Night light
  • Auto open/close
  • Unlimited warm water
You can get their other electric elongated models (or other manufacturers like Toto) for a lot cheaper with the other same key features.
It will also depend on what else you want on the bidet. I love the heated seat. Just set it to a slightly-warm temp and it is nice on either cold or warm days. Warm days does sound weird but there's an AC vent kinda close by that keeps the toilet seat chilly. Heated water is really nice. Cheaper models are usually a small reservoir that holds the warm water so it doesn't just blast cold water at you. It'll eventually run out and get cold but it feels more gentle than just starting at cold. Wife says she loves the front feminine cleaning mode. I love the soft spray mode for whenever it feels spicy down below after a bad poop session like if you had food poisoning.

Bio Bidet is a great brand, but this is way too expensive for what it is - you can get a decent one for under 200.00 in most cases and that is more than sufficient (and yes, that is the powered ones). Like others have said, moving an existing outlet nearer to the toilet is not expensive and if you are DIY capable, you can do it yourself. One thing to note though - unless the existing outlet you are moving is GFCI, all new outlets within 6 feet of a water source must be GFCI if new or remodeled, so you will need to upgrade that outlet in that case.
