When I buy salmon or pork, I'll repackage them into the vac sealer and it'll last significantly longer. Normally salmon goes bad in 3 days, but sealing them right away they can last much longer without freezing. I've done a week or so without issues. Quality stays the same when you freeze them without worrying about freezer burn. If your meat goes bad before you finish them, the $ in food wasted will far outweigh the cost of vac seal bags, so I just use them without batting an eye
