Has anybody actually finished this process? I placed an order but got a cancellation email right away. I've tried multiple times, but it's still not working. Even after changing to a new port-in number, a different email, and another credit card, it still fails.

It's baffling at first how such an obvious concept flies over so many heads. But eventually you realize a lot of adults never developed a mature understanding of how the world actually works. Explaining a subsidized phone with a lock-in is like telling a child they can't hop on a plane to Disneyland tomorrow.
You see the economics, the trade-offs, and the business reality. They just feel "it's unfair" and "but I want it now." Two fundamentally different ways of seeing the world.
These are good for trading in for gift cards. Harvest the service and get two numbers to port on the next deal.

Yes with Cricket you would need to have 6 months of service. It is not a gray area and all MNVO has some kind rules if you want to get inexpensive phones which are discounted.
Please edit to add this to the OP. Unlocking is always the first thing people want to know about in these threads, when the OP does not state the policy. I doubt you meant to mislead, so please fix it. ALSO you need to state the carrier in the title. From a full site page (not in the SD app or mobile site) Edit>Go Advanced to get to the title to add the proper disclosures.

Add to the title: Cricket Wireless
Add to the body:Requires 6 months of paid active service to unlock.

Or maybe they're not originally from the USA -- you know, another country that has stringent consumer protection laws which protect against such exploitative business behavior.

Definitely better than any of the Verizon companies, like straight talk, who all require one year to unlock.

First off, your post has nothing to do with mine. Mine is about the missing DISCLOSURE from the OP. Not a judgment of the policy at all.

"Better" depends on your use, and needs. If you are using Cricket's service anyway, or want to continue doing so, then this deal is better.
If you are not planning on continuing it (MANY OF US), worse.

Cricket REQUIRES 6 months of CONTINUOUS, PAID, ACTIVE service for unlocking.

But (as stated in this thread already) Metro (a VZW MVNO), does not. Pay for one month, set it aside for a year and it will unlock. Much better for those who only want the unlocked phone who are willing to wait it out AND without paying as much as this deal.

Either carrier is profitable for trading in to Apple for a $310 GC. BUT the Metro deal is less expensive for those who want to do so. ($150) and less for a 2nd phone ($130).

Yes right but I don't understand why people are shocked that the phone is locked for 6 months. Most people should know if you get a discounted phone there something things that it's acts like a trade off e.g. you have to stay for xx months until the phone can be unlocked. I a waiting for the Iphone 17e to be on sale.
I think it's less of a case of understanding carrier locks and more that the title of the deal only mentions 3 months. I get that it doesn't say unlocks in 3 months but usually deals mention the unlock period.
