Why even buy Sam's if you have Costco? The only reason to have a Sam's membership is if you're a scalper and want to sell their seasonal exclusives. The grass isn't always greener, and that goes for the produce too. I was a member at my Sam's for the past 3 years and ended up returning produce that spoiled the day after I bought them at least 7 times.
I have both, Costco executives and Sam's regular. Sam does have some stuff that Costco does not. For 15 bux a year, why not? I'll even go for the Plus this year with the 40% Chase offer.

One thing I'll say though, I DETEST Sam's parking lot. Nobody has the mind to put back their carts. They're strewn everywhere flying across the lots, hittings cars, and nobody gives a crap. To add salt to the wound, their gas is not Top Tier. I'll come in to Sam's once or twice a year though, to load up on the water softener salt and Tiramisu in the bakery. The saving on the salt alone make up for the membership fee for me. It's 7-8 dollars a bag VS 12 everywhere else, and I need about 10 bags a year.

I don't really see the value in Plus, the regular membership is just fine. I'm never up early enough for early shopping hours, and I never see anything on their website worth shipping to my house that I can't just go into the local store and buy without having to get $50 worth of it first for their slow shipping. And, they only give you that 2% cash back to redeem after your year has expired, and if you decide not to renew for another year, then they lock you out from redeeming that Sam's cash. There was a better deal with the $10 for a year of the regular membership a few months ago, but this is the next best deal, if you have a Chase bank card, and can get that cash back deal to work. Sam's Club may be a slightly evil version of Costco (they are Walmart, after all), but they do have more of a variety of things to buy than Costco does. Where Costco sticks to one kind of milk, or one kind of peanut butter, Sam's Club has a lot of different options. My local store had at least 8 different kinds of peanut butter the last time that I was in there. And, Sam's Club prices historically have been lower than Costco's prices. Even on mundane things like bagged salads. You can get a bagged salad at Sam's Club for like $2.38 for one of them, and Costco forces you to get a two pack for $6.99. Sometimes you don't want two big bagged salads rotting away in your fridge. Sometimes you just want one. Also, if you like candy, and junk food, and soda, or energy drinks. Sam's Club beats the pants off of Costco, not just with their prices, but with their selection. My mom had stomach surgery, and her doctor has her drinking protein drinks, instead of solid food right now, and the cost of protein drinks at Sam's Club is about half the price of what they are at Costco. Also, video game gift cards, and other gift cards, are always the cheapest at Sam's Club compared to Costco and other stores. Last year around Christmas they had a $100 Nintendo gift card for $82, and a $300 Disney Gift card for $250.

Sam's Club has some great products and this is a really good price for a membership. Totally worth it is if you live in a place there is no CostCo. Even worth it for some items which are better than CostCo.

However note that they do have some sort of control where they don't allow people to add new accounts with different email addresses or even phone numbers. I think they check it at an address or a card credit card level. I'm not sure. I tried using a BoFA offer earlier this year and they canceled my account (even when I made a $150+ purchase) the next day.

me too. There are a few items that costco does not have. It is worthy it. Plus the costco and sam's club I often go to are very close to each other.

I saw 40% chase promo, that should knock the standard membership to $9 with this deal, if you hold Chase card and targeted for the promo.
Nice. I was going to use AMEX 30% but then saw your post.

I have both. Sam's has better selection on some items, bathroom stuff and spices for example. Also if Costco has some stuff out of stock, could get them from Sams. Basmati rice, water softner pellets - cheaper at Sams. Could get some decent clothes at Sams too.

The only 2 reasons I sometimes buy Sams is it's located about 3 miles from the house and sometimes they carry certain brands that I only find there. But I have let it lapse many times over the years, made account under different email/ phone, etc. It's nothing like a must have membership for us like how costco is.

We like the scan & go at Sam's and their website seems to be more accurate than Costco, like searching for items online vs in-store. I feel like Costco has changed but they still treat their employees better than Sam's do

Good deal, if you are married, have your spouse join if it has been over a year since they had membership.

Was wondering this (more or less) as well. How long does a membership have to be inactive to be considered "new?"
