I dont mind the Ali deal info. I have done very well with the deals so far. Its on us to filter the info and decide yea or nay on the buy.

This appears to be a really good deal. Some guy did some testing of this inverter and found it really could only do about 3000W and not the 5000W advertised. If you do a search on Youtube, the video should pop-up pretty easily.

230/240v non split phase is probably not what most folks in the US are looking for

Aliexpress offers a relatively high "cash back" kickback, so I think we know why.

the guy in the video has split phase, if it is the same unit it appears to be. Google says this may be a rebadged SRNE hyp or other series which will be solid if confirmed.

It's not going to be the same unit. Doing split phase requires different hardware (two hot legs vs one being the biggest difference - look up what split phase actually does to see how the actual tech required to make the 90deg offset happen if you're curious). It might be the same oem manufacturer, but definitely not the same hardware.
Unless you want to buy a transformer to go along with this, it will not be supplying voltage that US appliances can use.

I'm kinda getting annoyed at all these 230v unit "deals" showing up for the US market. People buy them because they're cheap, and they're new to this stuff and don't know this is the wrong voltage. Then it doesn't work or breaks something and then they have to try to return it.

Looke more. This "deal" is on the brands us store. they should have been more clear it does not do normal 120V.
Looking at the product link in video he links to their hongkong store. both appear to be same rebranding-manufacturer.

You are correct, they mark them clearly, some models are 230V only and are cheaper than 120v/240v models from same brand store. It is not just weird part of the spec in title. I agree that is a big factor that should be more clear for a US buyer.
One could get this if one needs extra mppts, a side offgrid hut for a well pump etc. 261 - 42 coupon on page is not that much investment, * but * it should be made more clear there is no 120v for an item from a US store.

I don't see anything about UL1741/IEEE 1547 conformance so good luck if you are using in a situation where there is codes review. This is likely more for off-grid purposes.

of course it's not UL listed, it's an AliEpress 240v hybrid. cheap, but not for the beginner without learning about autotransformers.

$286 for a non-parallel 6.5kw is about normal deal price.

the $264 24v one is almost certainly a 3kw -- i've never seen a 24v 5kw inverter.
