I think it's worth a moment to consider what AI is bringing to your life, because it looks like it's prepared to take away your access to 16GB of affordable RAM, not asking.

"Hey ChatGPT, why can't I afford 16GB of RAM?"
"Because AI eliminated all the jobs that paid enough to afford it available to you. I can tell you all the ways I'm also helping out or direct you to retraining options at a higher education institution you would rather not take jour loans for. Just indicate which topic interests you!"

8GB of memory is not enough in the current tech world even for basic browsing tasks.
Our family PC had only 8GB of memory a couple years ago, and it would be overloaded by just browsing the internet with Windows and multiple Tabs open. It's not uncommon for a single Chrome tab to take up 800MB of memory. If you have multiple tabs open, plus what's reserved for the OS to operate, it runs out fast and becomes sluggish.
16GB is enough, we have not had a problem with 16GB.

That's more so to do with the Windows OS being a bloated mess. With Linux, you can get by doing basic tasks. With MacOS and their hardware, it's become really efficient to the point they can sell a MacBook Neo for college students.

Highly incorrect, while I own a Linux device, it's incredibly unrealistic to assume that someone would cross-shop Linux capable machines with a Macbook Neo. They would also not find Windows a "bloated mess", there's a reason it's still so popular despite Macs being a competitor for years, because if everyone thought like Redditors no one would be on Windows. Chrome is especially inefficient and anyone who has used Edge can tell the difference. The difference in optimization is incredible. I can run 30+ tabs on Edge and my fans are silent, with 10 on Chrome I see high cpu power and more ram used.

The issue with this laptop is that it does not seem to be RAM upgradable, causing limitations. This is also a 17-inch machine, which is expansive and enormous compared to the 13's that are standard on the Neo but will also draw more power. I use Macs for work, and while they are nice, the cult of people hyping them up is insane. I don't see the same crowd clamoring for the Wildcat Lake response (such as the XPS) like there were back with the M1. The Neo is good for people who don't know about deals or prefer MacOS already, but for people on here it should be obvious that deals like this Omnibook X Flip are simply better value. Though the person looking for this deal is not likely considering any small laptop...

Unfortunately it's soldered LPDDR5 RAM, so no you're stuck with 8GB.
