It's well-known that it's bugged. Would've been better if you checked which model it shows that price for: https://slickdeals.net/f/19144069-acemagician-m1-mini-pc-amd-ryzen-7-6800h-16gb-lpddr5-512gb-pcle-ssd-mini-computers-8c-16t-up-to-4-7ghz-windows-11-pro-radeon-680m-4k-triple-display-desktop-computer-328-99
Like I said, check your facts prior to commenting and trashing a thread.

Yep not even close to the same rig. This is a good price for a strong mini. This mini is way stronger than 80% if people actually need. I am using one similar to this with a 680 video for plex server. The rig has no issues with several people pulling 4k Dolby vision and atmos at the same time

Does it matter you you why? Why do my preferences matter to you? And Taiwan is NOT mainland China. Furthermore AceMagic (formerly Ace Magician)was caught shipping several of its mini PCs with factory-installed malware. Independent security researchers, YouTubers, and virus scanners (such as Windows Defender and VirusTotal) found spyware—specifically credential-stealers like the Redline malware family and Bladabindi—hidden in the Windows recovery folder and RGB lighting control software.... So lack of ethics & quality control.

This mini PC is a compact Ryzen 7 7735HS box best suited for everyday computing, media serving, light gaming, and server tasks. The Radeon 680M and 24GB of RAM are described as strong enough for Plex, Jellyfin, Steam Link, game servers, and lighter games like Roblox, Minecraft, and League of Legends, with support for three 4K monitors. Main cautions are the weaker 680M versus newer 780M systems, soldered LPDDR5 5500 memory, and a 512GB PCIe SSD that may be only third gen. Thermals, fan quality, and past ACEMAGIC security concerns also come up, so a fresh Windows install or Linux is often recommended.

  • Home lab builders running Plex or game servers, because the mini PC can stream 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos while handling server tasks without issues.

    391mechanictheothercrazybrian

  • People wanting a compact media or play computer, because the specs are strong enough for that role and can support multiple 4K displays.

    JMBFloridaDave_B

  • Living-room gamers using Steam Link or family split-screen, because it handles those lighter sessions well and stays responsive for that use.

    theothercrazybrian

  • PC gamers who mainly play lighter titles, because it runs Roblox, Minecraft, and League of Legends comfortably.

    oscar_DEAL_a_hoya

  • Hardcore gamers chasing modern graphics, because the Radeon 680M is far behind 780M-class systems and heavier games can be nearly unplayable.

    joshuaNHoscar_DEAL_a_hoyajoshuaNHnoobcake

  • Buyers who want a worry-free factory Windows setup, because this brand has a documented history of preinstalled malware and bloatware concerns.

    PaulW5081joshuaNHJasonDBalexwine

  • People planning to run demanding games or heavy CPU loads continuously, because the HDMI connection can freeze when bumped and the thermals can run hot.

    theothercrazybrianleecewestleecewestjoshuaNH

  • Always-on server owners, because the cooling fans are weak and long uptime can shorten the unit's lifespan.

How does this compare to the steam deck in terms of raw power? Can it run stuff at 1080p without blowing up?

vs Steam Deck, 1.2x in GPU, 1.5x in single core, 2x in multicore. Steamdeck is very underpowered.
vs Steam Machine, 0.3x in GPU, 0.7x in single core, 1.15x in multi-core. Steam Machine murders this due to 3-3.5x more power in GPU.
680m is not suitable for hardcore gaming. You can probably play most demanding games on low, e-sports games on medium/high. Can emulate roms fine.

In early 2024, security researchers found that some ACEMAGIC mini PCs shipped with pre-installed malware in the Windows installation. The company acknowledged the issue, said it affected certain production batches, and stated that it changed its software verification process afterward.

Because of that incident, many buyers recommend performing a clean installation of Windows (or installing Linux) immediately after purchasing an ACEMAGIC PC, rather than relying on the factory-installed operating system.

Tell you what--- You do you. You are free to trust & test the waters of lower tier mainland China brands.... And I'll do what I want. I asked a simple question. If there aren't any options, then I pass on it altogether. I don't need self-proclaimed experts telling me I'm wrong, and that because other brands do it, I should trust a dubious Chinese brand.
Then your problem isn't China. You've narrowed it to lower-tier brands. For instance-- I doubt you'd be interested in lower-tier brands from Vietnam. China makes high quality, mid-tier, and budget quality products-- they build for consumer demand on all these levels. Saying you want higher quality is acceptable. Dogging on an entire nation of a billion or more people, many of which have amazing technical skills and build the best phones and other electronics out there, reeks of ignorance.

Per Acemagic, the company they used to install the OS installed this malware. Acemagic claims they had no clue and other companies also used this third party and the same viruses showed up on their devices as well. BOTTOM LINE... Acemagic produced and shipped mini PCs with pre-installed spyware and malware in systems manufactured before November 18, 2023. Just make sure you buy hardware that Acemagic used only after November 18, 2023 such as this CPU or the 7840HS or the 8745HS.BUT FORGET ABOUT THAT...If you did purchase an infected PC TODAY (old stock)... all you need to do is run windows defender virus software and it would find the viruses and clean your PC. Windows 11 Pro is registered with Microsoft through the motherboard's serial number. Regardless of what PC you buy YOU REALL SHOULD.... (I have done this with EVERY SINGLE PC I OWN)1. Download a fresh copy of Windows 11 straight from Microsoft (don't need to know any registration info... already registered to your PC though motherboard's serial number.)2. Use Rufus to create a usb thumb drive (at least 16GB in size), I like to disable logging into microsoft and with Rufus you can create a USB thumb drive that you do not need to log into microsoft to install Windows3. BEFORE you install anything, I advice you to download all drivers and place them on another usb thumb drive. 4. make sure your Bios from the manufacture is upto date... that is you have the newest version.5. Combine all hard drive partitions 6. INSTALL A CLEAN COPY OF WINDOWS. 7. First driver to make sure works should be the WLan driver so you can access your wifi network... May already be working.8. Now go to Edge, go to google.com and search, "AMD DRIVERS INSTALLATION SOFTWARE" and go to AMD and install this software and let it update your drivers. 9. Update Windows... this may take some time and you may need to do this multiple times. 10. Usually, all your drivers will be working but you should double check by going to "device manager" and make sure everything is populated and working. IF YOU DO THIS, you will never have to worry about having an effected hard drive or need to worry about bloatware. I have done this for every single computer I have ever owned in my life. AND when you install a clean OS... the speed of your computer shines. BUT this mini PC comes super clean out of the box. One of the things People LOVE about mini pc(s).Right now, I have brought my mini PC back to specs and plan to sell it used on EBAY. I have a 8745HS. 16GB and 512GB. Hope to get $400. And I just performed a complete reinstall with WIndows 11. (so I just did all those steps above). I want to add that the laptop I am typing on is a 3rd gen i7, I upgraded the RAM to 16GB DDR 2 (8GB x 2) and I installed a Samsung 970 1TB SSD. This laptop is approximately 14 years old and is still running well and is still getting updates from Microsoft. I am thinking about installing Windows 11 this Xmas (official date when Microsoft will no longer update WIndows 10)... I can use RUFUS to bypass the system restrictions to install Windows 11.
Commenters report taking machines like this one and freshly installing windows with working results. If the problem is Ace Magic then it's Ace Magic. Blaming an entire nation is ridiculous. Especially when they make products across all tiers of quality.

Maybe stop defending the ignorance and listen to a person whose reputation on this platform is ranked 50x more than yours. This is a community. You had a concern, sure, but read the room-- you've offended many in the community. You can easily learn from the offending behaviour and change the way you approach your concerns. Example: "Does AceMagic make a decent quality product? I've heard some of these lesser known brands make products that cut corners. How's the support?" But instead you're trying to convince people that it's alright to defend your ignorance about China-- that you prefer to be willfully ignorant than learn that the problem with quality isn't China, it's with certain brands, many of which have components from all over (many PCBs are soldered in Vietnam!). It's a global supply chain that's being used by the same people who make top tier brands. You gotta problem, focus on the brand, not the country, nationality, or ethnicity of the people behind the product.

Looking at Amazon price history it is jacked up from ~300s to ~460 in last 6 months.
As someone pointed above we can get a better deal price than this.
