Either way, it's cheap as hell.
The TSC makes just about every compromise to get at the lower price, but I don't think you can find anything as large for $320-400
It isn't a piece of junk, that's for sure.
The biggest compromise is the depth difference, and the thickness of the steel didn't seem too drastic, unless you're really tough on your tools.
The slides were OK, but they also seemed to close with no extra effort. I didn't check if they were auto closing in the specs, but they did close without me pushing them all the way in.
So the tsc is a compromise, but you're not getting anything close to that large for so little
**EDIT** Looks like they are soft close, and can confirm it
**EDIT2** I should mention I couldn't test the TSC casters as the chest is tied to the wall behind it

This Tractor Supply 42 inch 13 drawer combo is a large, budget friendly toolbox that stands out for home garage storage and weekend projects. The soft close drawers, workable layout, and 18 inch depth make it fit smaller garages well, and the assembled unit feels solid enough for light use. The main tradeoffs are thinner steel, basic slides, and a shallower top than deeper Harbor Freight options. At $399, especially with extra rewards savings, it lands as a strong value for casual use.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, it is repeatedly described as a good fit for home, weekend, or casual garage use, especially if you want a lot of storage for around $399. It is not positioned as a forever box or heavy professional-shop box, but it can be fine for light use and tool organization.
Yes. At about $399 assembled, it is described as a lot of space and functionality for the money, especially if you can stack an extra 20% off or similar discount. At higher prices like $699, several people would look elsewhere.
It is generally viewed as a step below US General on build quality and specs, with thinner steel, shallower depth, and less impressive slides/layout. It is closer to Husky, Kobalt, or Tractor Supply's Yukon line, but can still be a strong value if the price is much lower.
The chest is 18 inches deep, which is shallower than some alternatives and is the main compromise people mention. That smaller depth can be a plus in a garage because it takes up less space and is less likely to get hit by a car door.
Yes. The drawers close smoothly without needing extra push, and the soft-close feature was confirmed after in-store inspection. That makes it feel better than basic budget boxes for light home use.

As for quality, it is thinner gauge metal but I think it'll be fine for home use. If you work in a professional shop, etc. I would say you would want something beefier. For $400 + tax (minus 11% CB), I'm satisfied.

US General is phenomenal and better in basically every listed spec than this.
