It shows it stuck to the dashboard but says it can only be stuck to smooth surfaces. Aren't most dashboards textured? I think some of those pictures are misleading.

Looks like it comes with a different baseplate for dashboards, though some reviewers noted that the suction generated by the cranking mechanism held even without it.
