Brushed, fyi.
If this had a battery +charger I'd buy this for light DIY, since I don't have any porter cable tools. Still good deal for those who do, just don't expect too much out of 3/4" cut depth

In case anyone was wondering, Porter Cable is owned by Stanley Black & Decker, who also owns DeWalt and Craftsman. The three don't share batteries, but you can buy adapters to make them work together. Also, a quick look on Amazon shows there's plenty of Porter Cable compatible batteries you buy, so there's no real concern for batteries down the road.

I bought into PC 10 years ago and it still works great. Feels like the perfect balance between quality and price. ...but they absolutely nerfed the PC line of tools for some reason. Stanley also makes black and decker 20v and craftsman 20v, the batteries are identical and interchangeable if you dremel off a plastic tab...but I have no idea why they're competing with themselves. Like I get having a consumer grade and a pro grade brand, but why THREE consumer grade brands? And if you're going to have 3, why go out of your way to prevent your customers from sharing your batteries? Just baffling to me

They do it to spread how they take your money. You make more money selling 10 spread out brands, than 1 brand... they also vary SLIGHTLY to make you feel you got a diff tool.

Many diff marketing situations fit this.

Think about a person buying PC tool... they don't like it... got swayed away from brand. Buy dewalt, unknowing that it's same mother company. (Chinese companies do this.... A LOT! Names rotate a lot in the 3d filament game, but half the time they originate from same mother company)
