One key general indicator of quality in both subs and amps/receiver is WEIGHT. That Starke weighs 55lbs, vs just 26lbs for the SB1000 Pro. The 10e is in the middle, at 38lbs.

The 12 will overwhelm a small room.
In medium sized rooms and even larger room where you value evenness I'd go with 2 (or 3) 10's over 1, 12".
Far better coverage for multiple seats and will even out room modes and SBIR (peaks and nulls) when placed well in the space.
If you have a larger space and need high SPL then yes multiple 12's, at least 2. 1 sub cannot provide the evenness and therefore accuracy that 2 or 3 or even 4 in different locations can.
Just got sb1000 pro. Love it. General use. Not enough of an audiophile to get into nuances.
