The Speedwoofer 10e comes across as a strong value ported sub for small offices, 2.1 desktop setups, and modest home theater rooms, with enough output to pair well with bookshelf speakers and even support a second sub later. It is praised for punchy, weighty bass, good music performance, and a wider, smoother response than some sealed rivals, while RSL's customer service and resale value add to the appeal. The main tradeoffs are its large footprint for a 10 inch driver, limited deep bass below about 26 hertz, and no Bluetooth. A solid fit when space and ultra low bass are not the priority.

Agreed. I went from the 10e to the 12s and its as big as a mini fridge and about 90lbs. Very different use case for space and frequency response. The 10 is great for music and some movies tbh but the 12 can reach down into the lower frequencies and shake your lungs.
Yes not to surprising, this 10 only extends to 26hz.
The Dayton 12 can get you there for less cost!

My room is small about 11ft x 11ft so one is probably sufficient but could you elaborate on the group "Power buys" for these on reddit?
You're probably right in that size room, but it would still have to be positioned correctly. There's a lot about that on YouTube, or I can help. In my music "listening room" for lack of better words, I have a couple RELs positioned alongside my speakers. In my larger activity room are a pair of SVS placed to fill the room. Nothing symmetrical about it because there are other things in the room. Just need 2 so there are no voids. But, you may not have that need.

As for the power buys, every couple months you'll see posts in the "budget audiophile" subreddit (not "audiophile"), that announce an agreement with RSL that if they can get 12, 20, etc. (whatever the agreement is that time) people to commit...they'll knock the price back down to its regular $299 price. For the 10e, that is. The better subs are the prices I mentioned previously. I saw those ones just end last week or the week before. I don't know the details, as I'm not interested in the brand, but I think it's as simple as replying that you'll join in so they can reach that number.

I'll add info based on science.
"Positioned correctly" in a square environment can often be a challenge.
Even more so when adding a 2nd sub.
It actually applies to your loudspeakers also.

This is when an AVRs premium RC(ie DLBC,ART,Audyssey, etc) can be a significant benefit.
It does a majority of the correction & integration extremely well.
IF you need to make more adjustments, you can do all of it within it!

Thanks for the info. I'm generally on Reddit a few times per week, however had not visited that sub but am now subscribed.

Yes. I used Audyssey this morning even though I'll be relocating the whole outfit to another room soon and will have to do it again. It's at that time I suppose I'll place the sub in my preferred listening position and move around the room while observing.

If you haven't already, do a Google and/or YouTube search for "subwoofer crawl"---extremely useful, more so than any room EQ.

Yes good idea & TBH just check where you would realistically put the sub.

FYI you should always find the proper/optimal placement(ie sub crawl) prior to running room correction, they're two separate important things!!

Not sure which version of Audyssey you have but highly recommend looking into the their Editor App($20) and A1EVO express(free)!
The app is well worth the $20 and A1EVO is a game changer for Audyssey!
It basically gives you pretty comparable Dirac performance!

This is THE subreddit I'd strongly recommend browsing: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/

And a great general resource for home theater subwoofer info: https://www.avsforum.com/forums/s...ducers.113

Yes, I would invest say 30-60 minutes browsing and/or posting there, just to get a "big picture" view of what products are truly out there at which pricepoints, and what a much larger sample size of folks have had with various brands/products.

SD is a good place to find out about sales, but its comment threads are way too tiny/limited to provide that at all.

Much better. Tighter, faster, more accurate bass which will be most obvious during music. During movies the improvement might be more subtle.

Many unknowns but generally speaking,if you compared them side by side probably better.
I wouldn't expect a significant difference, more incremental.

If you're looking to upgrade, imo I would go with a more significant one, plenty of options & quality.

Fyi there is only one frequency range not two(ie music vs movies).
Well at least that's what modern science tells you.
