Are you looking for a lamp with a cord? For camping? Or a candle? Coleman lanterns are expensive, fragile, and still rely on fuel so they don't last as long unless you are packing a ton of extra fuel, at which point you could pack an extra battery instead.

Buy some rechargable AA's.

Even added to the price its cheaper than a gas lantern, and you can cary them easily. Plus the rechargable batteries can easily be swapped when they get old and worn out, unlike the ones that are fixed inside and sometimes soldered in.

Agree with others. The batteries make it a pass for me.

For an extended trip or extended blackout (e.g. post hurricane), you can just swap in extra batteries. All about about how you use it.

Agree 100%. I refuse to buy anything with those built in rechargeable batteries. Why would anyone want that? With batteries, 6 AAA batteries would get you 150hours.

I'd rather have one with batteries. Tbe product will quit working completely at some point because of the built in battery. And, it will gradually reduce the number of hours it lasts as the battery degrades. With batteries, I can buy 10 from Amazon for about $6 most of the time.
