The Timex Expedition Scout is a cheap, sturdy everyday watch that keeps good time and suits a bigger field watch look. The canvas strap stays cooler than rubber or resin in hot weather, and the low price makes wear and tear easier to live with. The main drawbacks are the very loud ticking and recurring Indiglo failures, with some reports of the light fading or stopping within weeks or months. It is a practical, low-cost beater if the noise and light reliability are not dealbreakers.

  • Daily wearers who want a cheap field watch, because it stays readable and durable enough that minor beat-up does not feel painful.

  • People who need a reliable analog watch for years, because it can keep perfect time and still run after long stretches of storage.

  • Hot-weather workers wearing a watch all day, because the strap does not get hot and slimy like rubber or resin bands.

  • Light-sensitive sleepers who need a silent bedside watch, because the second hand can tick loudly enough to be heard across a room.

  • People who depend on the backlight for frequent nighttime reading, because the Indiglo can fail quickly or dim to a fraction of its original brightness.

  • Swimmers or sweaty outdoor workers who need a strap that stays put, because it can spin around when wet.

These are great cheap watches, but the second hand ticks loudly. If you want something nicer, get the Timex Expedition North Post Solar. They're around $180 but significantly better quality.
I have one. I put it across the rooom in my bedroom no a table. I had to move it while sleeping. It keeps good time however. Very loud.

I really liked mine but the Indiglo failed in less than 2 weeks.
Glad to know it's not just me, but also, sorry. That sucks.

Solid watch. Very loud ticking. I keep the crown pulled out when not wearing it
I do that on my Bulova to save the battery.

Been rocking this exact one for a year, no indiglow issues. I changed out the band for a silicone one though.

I got rid of a Timex because it ticked so loudly. I could only hear it when held up to my ear, but unless I stashed it away under a pile of clothes at night it would drive my wife crazy.
mine stays in another room, try that. also use an air cleaner at night, and never hear it ........keep it all in another room for starts. easy peasy.

I used to wear these when working in hot summers because the straps dont get hot and slimy like the rubber/resin straps (shifty - they can spin around on you when wet)
