Why would anyone buy a non electric bike? That blows my mind, even if you don't use it, it's there for you to help with hills, or just never use it, but its there when you want an extra boast.
Exercise and working out. I don't need assistance and I want to train my legs, so a standard bike it goes. But if you need help and otherwise can't walk if you also can't bike up a hill, than electric is a good alternative.
Also, someone getting a mountain bike is not getting one to ride on sidewalks or streets. It's for bike and mud biking, which is more fun when you do it yourself.
