A neighbor here got their automatic robot lawn mower stolen from their yard. They've tried the ways to find it (gps, etc) but haven't been able to find it.

This thing is gonna be sooooooooo careful it probably shuts off when a bee flies too close. There's just no way an autonomous robot with spinning blades can operate efficiently without HUGE risk of litigation if someone's dog/kid tries to touch it. It's gonna shut off for everything and be annoying or useless or a waste of time (pick 3)
Have it mow the lawn at 3am when no kids or pets are going to be outside.

These basically use small razor blades to mow, not a massive traditional blade. Its still dangerous, but they have tilt sensors and it would be very difficult to accidentally access the spinning blade.

Does anyone know if some common replacement parts will still be available in case the manufacturing company does not last?

Epic!
Not really, you just pick it up and walk away. They're pretty slow, it'd be like picking up a turtle at the beach.

Just be more direct next time and tell us you have no clue as to how these things work.

It may be gone, but your neighbor can be assured that the thief will not be able to use it. This essentially bricks itself when away from it's base station and outside of its programmed mowing area. They also have location functionality inside so they can be tracked down, so I guess your neighbor didn't have that feature activated.

I bought my first one hoping I could use it at my house, and also take it to use at my parent's house when they're on vacation. It couldn't be done without completely factory resetting and setting up as new at their house. Too much of a pain. Kinda like the robot vacuum cleaners in your house, only with more involved mapping (single maps), security and safety setups.

The thieves that are around here don't steal things to use or sell them, they destroy them. When people get their cars stolen, they find the cars later in the woods or a lake destroyed. I told the neighbor the robot mower was either destroyed or in the bottom of a neighbor's pool which is why they can't find it. No one around here buys any new shrubbery anymore. A neighbor had their newly planted apple tree stolen and it was later found planted right in the middle of the high school football field.

The cutting width is 7 inches and is right in the middle of the mower. It also looks like it will not cut close to the wall/fence. Maybe leaving about 5 inches from the wall/fence. Because of the 7 inches, it's going back and forth a lot.

My wife says 7 is plenty. Ok 6.5.
