I've had this knife for 11 years now and am surprised they still sell it. Wonderful knife, perfectly balanced. I get it professionally sharpened once a year for about $10 to bring it back to new. Totally recommend.

This is stamped steel made in China. Spend more and get the forged steel made in Germany.

Why does it say "forged" in the title and about 15 times in the description and specs? Do you even read?

I agree. I had this same knife for the last 5 years and has been a great general purpose knife. I just hit it with the hone sharper, before use, that comes with knife kits and it keeps it decently sharp for my needs.

I can't speak for that person's reading ability, and yes, it says forged in multiple places, but there is a clear discrepancy here. The product page on Henckels' own website says Construction: Stamped. I'm not sure what to believe, honestly. It could be that this is a simple mistake, or it could be that they are being intentionally misleading by saying "forged bolster" meaning the blade is stamped but the bolster is forged, and "Forged Accent" (as a name rather than a description). The same is true of the 5.5" utility knife - their own specifications say stamped, which you are welcome to read for yourself.

I do know what is right and what is wrong, but Henckels themselves have created confusion here. This caught my eye because it is a name brand forged knife for cheap, but I don't need it so I'm staying away from this due to the conflicting specs.

Specs on the official Henckels website actually say Construction - Stamped though, for both this and at least one other knife in the Accent line. Something is wrong, and I don't know what. "Forged bolster construction" seems pretty iffy.

Yes, their own site says stamped, so who knows. If spending more is not an option for people on a budget (this is SlickDeals after all, not Slick Just Spend More), there are alternatives, such as WInco's forged Acero line, which to me are nearly as good as my old German Wusthoffs.
