I never understand when people come in asking for a reco between a 14" vs 16" laptop when the rest of the specs are even or close enough...

In these situations it just comes down to size. Are you carrying the machine around all day going to multiple locations? Do you care about minimizing the amount of stuff you lug around? Or do you use a laptop basically as a desktop replacement?

Other than this, in this case, the acer here has a touch screen. If that matters... And matters more than the answers to the questions above, then you have your an answer.

The 256v is top-tier when it comes to igpu (Arc 140V) ... it can probably run most things that a 3050 laptop could with reasonable success. Generally faster than AMD's 880m and nipping the heals of the 890m. The only igpus that are better are AMD's Strix Halo, which is in another performance and price class entirely, and intel's own next-generation top of the line igpu, the Arc B390 (Panther Lake), which is also way more expensive. Note that those two igpus are at par with mid-range dgpus in performance (eg, RTX 4070 laptop). It's an interesting time for igpus...

Great laptop for the price. The only issue is that the rubber screen feet fall off pretty easily.

Are these kind of deals area dependent? I always see "Unavailable" when I proceed to Best Buy's website.

16 GB RAM is commonly cited as a good minimum; but note that on this that is shared between the iGPU and CPU, so if you're gaming you could easily lose half to the iGPU.

That's why for iGPUs 24 GB could be advisable. It isn't a deal breaker, particularly for moderate use and expectations. For non-gaming/3D work it is fine.

Thanks for this comment! I had not realized the purpose of those 24GB laptops that show up once in a while. I thought sellers were just doing sketchy things, replacing the original 2x16 with 1x16+1x8 and selling the 1x16

Thought maybe this was the Swift Air 16 (which is only ~2lbs and quite fast) available in the US, got excited, saw the weight, became sad. Why can't we have the good stuff, Acer?
