I agree. The tabs on the snapware lids break off easily because it's just plastic that keeps getting flexed over and over until it just breaks off.

Love the Costco ones and you can basically buy three sets for the price of this one set. I'm pretty sure you are just paying for the name here, unless there are some specs I am missing.

Wirecutter recommends these only for dry food storage, not for leftovers or frequent dishwasher trips due to cracking.
Also note that the lids on these are plastic, not glass. Pyrex Ultimate (not Snapware) has glass lids with silicone seals that are oven and microwave safe, if that matters to you. Wirecutter names it their upgrade pick.

Soda lime glass. Thick and heavy. Look for Amazon Basics set or Oxo Good Grips, both are Borosilicate glass, thinner, lighter, handle heat better. For this type of glass, Costco's Snapware is cheaper and better lids.

I own both brands. Have had the Rubbermaid lid break right at the hinge for the seal tab. So hard for me to be sure one type is fundamentally better than the other.

Just ignore, you can get $1 ones at family dollar as well, but like others said Costco also sells similar set much cheaper with snap lids. Do people say it's bad for you to have plastic lids? Just don't make your food touch the lid and remove lid and use microwave cover when heating them.
One positive with this in guess comes with a large container oven safe.

I have these and they work well. I hand wash the lids, never microwave them. Hinges have held up to regular use for the last 6 months still feel "new." They are expensive but as others have mentioned they won the ATK shootout. They highlighted these containers being superior in all of their criteria: When shopping for containers, look for:
• Secure, fixed gaskets with wide, easy-to-clean channels.
• Smooth, sturdy latches that click easily.
• Flat lids to facilitate stacking.
• Wide rims (especially on glass) for a secure grip with pot holders.
• Rigid, thick material that doesn't flex under pressure.

I've had these for over 4 years and none have broken despite being dropped.
I never microwave the lids, and only 1 has broken at the hinge when I applied uneven pressure pushing it down.
I wash the lids in the dishwasher w/o heat drying and no issues.
Fine in the freezer or low heat oven use. Wash clean after oven use.
The lids for the meal prep containers also fit the 2, 3.2 and 4.7 cup containers, and buying them on sale is the cheapest way for replacement lids.

I was waiting for these to go on sale. These are the best containers in my opinion. The costco containers aren't as good but are a solid backup. I have cambro's, hotel pans, yakumi pans and love the glass rubbermaid brilliance for storing leftovers. I used to get the plastic ones but they show spider cracks over time.
