They can be...and likely will only get more expensive assuming protein drive keeps hold in junk food/gen pop

This is an FYI. Haven't done a detailed analysis to see if this is a cheaper equivalent "apples to apples" alternative to OP's Post. This deal may help those on a budget, if the Energy Bar Experts determine this to be a comparable product to the name brand alternatives.
I
FYI: Aldi has a high protein energy bar for around $5 for 6 bars called: Elevation Protein Energy Bars in 2 flavors. I buy Yogurt Honey Peanut with 15 grams of protein and other essential vitamins. Think there is a chocolate alternative?
I
If interested, you can find your local price on Aldi's website.

Here's the Amazon link (for nutrition info only. Price is crazy high on Amazon). I used Amazon to show the nutrition profile & for image identification purposes.

Was looking for a cheaper alternative to the high price, brand name alternatives that Aldi is famous for.
SD Energy Bar Nutrition / Protein Experts may find flaws with this Aldi energy bar when compared to the major brand competitors. I would love to hear the criticisms to better educate myself.
I
Hope this helps some people, perhaps those on a budget?

It's definitely not apples to apples. Aldi bars are an extra 50-70 calories on average, with 1-5 grams less protein. More of the calories come from fat than protein, and Quest bars also include fiber. The closest alternative to Quest Bars would be Kirkland Signature protein bars.

Although if someone is on a budget, they should really just avoid protein bars entirely and stick to whole foods or whey protein powder
