for starters it looks like the costco one has a side regular type frother instead of the auto milk frother

FYI, these systems have so many moving parts it's very likely one part stops working. So let someone else find the problem for you and buy a refurb.

Bought a similar model for a similar price about 7.5 yrs ago and it's only just starting to fail after making over 10k coffees. Great value and usability. ~$0.05/coffee cost
