You can get a few good years out of these. They're pretty much disposable though because the fan bearings will whine and go out and you can't really replace them because of how they integrated them with the circuit board in the fan motor housing

The filter size (and purifier) is much smaller than 5500-2 which I'm not sure I'm a fan of. Typically the more area in a filter, the better it will perform. Also bigger fan contributes to being quieter

There was a subscribe & save option for me, bringing it to $117.32. Weird, but I'll take it.

Agreed. I've been through several because of this issue.

WINIX has such a great rep but I get tired of paying $100+ for machines which may whine so annoyingly for years on end in room where you're trying to relax. I think they're overrated.

I find good fortune in levoit and medify air machines. I've also have the first molekule tower from 2017 and it still hums quietly today. Was not worth the 800 dollar price tag, even tho it does a wonderful job.

Also agree. Depends on how much you use them but I just tossed one recently and have fingers crossed on the other ones.

me too, i feel like it's a real issue, but not as common as people think. I have 3, 2 refurbs and a brand new running 24/7 with no issues

Product page is confusing. This one is 5510 model, and the other color option black (and more expensive) is 5520 model but have the same specs?

I have that one, it does not have activated carbon charcoal pellets. It has carbon sponge filter. Though for that price if you are not trying to filter odors it's a decent price for dust purposes.

We have 2 Winix units both bought from Costco. Been running them both 24 hours a day for the last 3 and 4 years and no problems yet. You do need to vacuum up the dust from the front cover every month or so and to help out with cleaning my. So far so good.
