The price is decent. No name brands can be had cheaper but don't cheap out on things that keep you alive.

Call your gas company if you suspect a leak. This is a free service.

Agree. I've had cheap detectors fail to ping on a leak multiple times. I don't own this model but given Klein's target buyer and reputation I'd be inclined to trust that this is worth the price.

Can this be use to detect HVAC refrigerant leak? If not, typically nitrogen is used if the system is evacuated

Less mess if you are not sure of the leak location.

just know, the sensor has a life expectancy of up to 10 years. Like smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, they should be replaced near the end of their life.

Are there replacement sensors? Or does entire device get trashed after 10 years?

highly recommend you have one on hand. I bought one a while back and have used it a few times when I thought i smelled gas. Last year had a plumber change a gas line and turns out there was a legitimate leak i tracked down with this which was only occuring when the appliance downstream wasnt running (water heater).
