This open box LG C5 OLED stands out as a huge discount on a premium gaming TV, especially at the 83 inch size where the price drops far below new. The strongest upside is value if the unit is truly in good or excellent condition, with some open box C5 and other LG OLED purchases arriving well wrapped, complete with stand and remote, and low power on hours. The main risk is condition, since fair units can be scratched, missing parts, or even display models with thousands of hours. Checking power on time and inspecting the exact unit matters most.

  • Some open-box OLED purchases arrive with low power-on hours and include the stand and remote.

  • The deal can be strong if the open-box unit is truly in good condition.

  • A display-model open-box OLED can still function normally after adding a missing remote and wall mounting.

  • Open-box pricing may be especially favorable on C5 sizes compared with larger screen sizes.

  • The open-box "fair" condition can involve scratches or missing essentials like the remote or base.

  • Best Buy open-box TVs can arrive with screen damage or scratches due to poor in-store handling.

  • Open-box OLED value can be undermined by high power-on time that is hard to verify upfront.

  • Open-box OLEDs can develop burn-in, which can force a long return trip.

How bad are the "fair" tvs usually I'm assuming they were display models since all the stores around me only have 1 fair in stock and nothing else

Could have scratches. Could also be like new but missing a remote/base you never know tell you inspect it.

The last time I bought a "fair" open box laptop from BB it has a huge bent at the corner. I would avoid fair condition.

I've seen enough open box TVs at Best Buy with scratches and damages on the screen that I would never consider buying an open box unit. Some of them are stacked on top of each other at the stores without even protecting the screens.

Recently went and bought one in "good condition" open box and it was all beat up. Will never buy open box at least not from best buy. Whoever inspecs these tvs needs a new job.

They don't inspect, they just resell them...instead of donating them

i bought a fair condition oled samsung last year. unfortunately it had bad burn ins i couldnt justify keeping it. that was a waste of a drive 60 miles each way. rolled the dice and lost that one time. never doing it again unless its a near by BB where i can test it on the spot.

I bought an open box fair OLED last year. Turns out it was the display model and it had over 4,500 hours power on time. It was missing the stand and remote. Just the bare TV bubble wrapped. I bought a cheap remote on Amazon for $5 and wall mounted it. Still works fine.
