Yes, these are actually two generations old and were released in late 2016! They were first replaced in 2019, and again in 2022.
I feel like they're still a solid buy at under $100 for a whole house mesh. Most people won't have more than a 300Mbps plan especially if they hardwire it directly to their router or to the outside box.

it's the weirdest thing, I had Spectrum 400 Mbps with Gen 1 Google Wifi and was consistently getting 430 or so wirelessly (iPhone 13 with Speedtest app, with the phone held just a few feet from the puck) out of the main puck, hooked up up to whatever little modem I was renting from Spectrum.
When I called to complain that they were going to raise it to $85/month and told them I was looking into AT&T instead, they put me on 500 Mbps for $50/month and said I'd need a newer modem from them to handle the increased speeds.
As I sat there, now on the 500 Mbps plan but still waiting for the new modem to arrive, I was able to pretty consistently get about 520 out of the main puck. After hooking up and activating the new modem, about three times larger than the older one, it seems like I now get a completely random number between 400 and 500 every time I run the speed test.
