It says hardwired but the title description on Amazon says nema 14-50. So does it mean it includes the nema 14-50 cable you can swap instead of the hardwire?

The picture shows the 14-50 cable and further down there is a video on how to swap the cable as well as set the DIP switches to limit current since when not hardwired you're going to have to limit to 40A (80% continuous of the 50A breaker). Overall, pretty good price for a well regarded brand.

FYI, This doesn't come with 14-50 pigtail, even though the picture shows it and the review on State of Charge YouTube channel features it.

You can look at my series of comment edits the last time this was posted. I confirmed with the seller and support that it's shipped with only hardwire.

Edit: A few people reported that it did come with a pigtail. So, my comment is now moot.

Important to remember that most people don't need 48 amp 230V charging. I own a Chevy Bolt EUV and I charge my car on a 230V 24 amp charger (it can do 32 amps, but I keep it slower on purpose).

Not as hard as people make it out to be but you also need to make sure you dont cut corners and understand the code. I wired a continuous THHN 6AWG run from my EVSE to my breaker through a solid conduit with all of the proper fittings and with the proper torque for tightening the cables. wasn't cheap but there are pretty much no failure points for me to worry about.

I have time-of-use metering with lowest rate between midnight and 3. I'll be able to get much more of my charging in during this time with this charger. Should pay for itself pretty quickly.

It's a fair point, but if you're going to spend the money to install an EV charger, you shouldn't base it on just what your current EV can do, but what your next one might need. My current PHEV maxes out at 32 amps, but it's marginally more expensive to get a 48 amp charger with same install costs and be ready for whatever I get next.

If you already have a 240v outlet and it's just a plug in installation, that's one thing, but if you're getting it hardwired the electrician probably isn't going to spring for higher gauge wiring/higher amp braker to future proof for a more capable install in the future unless you specifically request it. Plug in 240v are also limited to 40 amps, so you're leaving capability on the table if you use a plug vs. hardwire.
