AirPods Pro 3 stand out for strong active noise cancellation, a better ear seal than the Pro 2, and a price that undercuts recent Amazon and Costco offers. The earbuds are praised for blocking TV noise and snoring, and the sound is described as close to the Pro 2. The main hesitation is upgrade value, since Pro 2 owners with good fit and healthy batteries may not gain much. Stock has also been tight, with checkout failures and limited pickup or shipping availability.

Common Questions (5)

  • AppleCare can pay off if you want coverage for accidental damage and battery degradation, since replacements and battery service can otherwise cost real money. A counterpoint is that some buyers rely on credit-card extended warranty coverage instead and skip AppleCare because they expect to upgrade before battery wear becomes an issue.

  • Best Buy support has refunded the $10 difference after a price match, and some buyers also used DashPass gift-card discounts to lower the total further. Walmart reportedly will not price match its own earlier $179 purchase, so the workaround is to return and rebuy.

  • If your AirPods Pro 2 still fit well and the battery is healthy, the upgrade is probably not worth it. The Pro 3 seal better and ANC is stronger, but the sound is reported as very similar, so the main reasons to upgrade are fit issues or aging batteries.

  • The ANC is strong enough to block TV sound and snoring, and one user said it helps them ignore surrounding noise. They are not very comfortable for sleeping unless you sleep on your back.

  • Yes, the order can still go through after an out-of-stock final checkout error if you retry. Stock is very limited, and Amazon was also out of stock at the same time.

Buy it from Best Buy through DoorDash and you'll get an extra $30 off. I'm not sure how much the fees and tip will add, but you should still come out ahead and save some money overall.
Yes but there's no apple care and it shows 179 in the DoorDash app

Buying a Macbook in 2026 with how difficult it is to repair whether it's a base $1500 or something upgraded like my $4,000+ unit is beyond stupid. Luck and being "rough" on electronics has nothing to do with failure. Many of Apple's products have serious failure points like for example Homepod Gen 1 and some Gen 2. There are two people who run websites fixing Homepods out of warranty. Not buying a $300 warranty on a $4000 item that only Apple can fix properly and in a timely manner is again idiotic. I can see where you are coming from about the Airpods and you are right I own nearly every set of Airpods that have been released. But I keep my last pair for when my newest pair die during a longer Zoom/conference call and then just quickly switch to my older pairs. So battery degradation (which btw happens in year one if you are using your Airpods for more than 3-4 hours a day / few days a week) can easily be taken care of and there is no warranty claim cost, it's free unlike if you drop your pod and damage it (which happens all the time these are fragile devices). Even when people tell you not to buy warranty on cars i still do it because after 2 years when it comes time to get a new car that buyer will see a low mileage car WITH extended warranty increasing the value of my car by 5-7k more than similarly fitted models. One can argue either way but paying $10-30 less than Costco deal to save what amounts to a lunch that you will shit out later is pushing the cheap barrier more than it is pushing the obsessed with warranties so gotta get one territory, Hope your luck without warranties and depending on your CC keeps working out.
"Many of Apple's products have serious failure points"...lmao
All companies will have some product that fails to an extent...even a shovel manufacturer. Claiming Apple products as having serious failure points is just being overly dramatic when the numbers don't support what most people think "serious" means.

Extended warranties aren't necessarily a bad thing but most of the time they are very much a profit center for companies and that includes Apple. I've been an Apple guy for decades and in that time I've bought AppleCare I think once which was when Apple Silicon was getting off the ground. It was a new direction so for a small fee(Mac mini AppleCare is pretty cheap) I spent the money. Never needed it.

And by the way I have 4 of the Gen 1 HomePods that you claim have serious failure points. They were purchased years back at different points and not a problem. Do some people have issues with theirs? I have no doubt in my mind. Serious flaws on the lines as a whole? No.

If someone wants to buy AppleCare, let them. For some it's a great experience and well worth it. For others it's a waste of money. Let them be. The number of people who say "Boy I wish I had bought AppleCare because I lost out on a $4000 purchase." is extremely low.

Record low! Of course I just bought them yesterday from Target for $10 more. Fingers crossed Target matches and I can get a price drop refund.
Haha same!!! But I opened it and I'm reading Targets policy online says "unopened, new condition".... of course my case fell out of my gym shorts ONCE and got the slightest of dent with some other scratches already so let's see how Lady Luck wants to play

You think these are worth it? I'm in need of new earbuds.
Meh depends what you have. I had pro2 but lost a case and bud so I needed some sort of replacement and new pro2 is more expensive than these pro3. Would I have gotten it had I still had my pro2? No way! But they're aight. Nothing spectacular I'd say

It really depends on what you are wanting out of them and how much the Apple ecosystem means to you. Coming from somebody whose purchased 3 sets of Air Pods Pros in my lifetime, I still have one but buy cheaper sets that I am very happy cause it hurts too much when I lose an ear pod and it costs $100 to replace just that 1. They are amazing! But I don't think the retail price is close to being justified.
Agreed
