Community Reviews
This Mr. Coffee 12 cup programmable maker is mainly a low cost, no frills option for basic daily brewing, with a strong price for a familiar brand. The 2 hour auto shutoff and programmable timer add convenience, and replacement carafes are easy to find if the glass breaks. The main drawbacks are the glass carafe, which can crack from thermal shock or wear over time, and a clock that is hard to read from across the kitchen. It is a simple budget pick that covers the basics without much polish.
Common Questions (4)
The carafe can break eventually, but the "exploding" concern is not supported by the long-term use reports here. Thermal shock from rinsing hot glass with cold water is a likely cause, and replacement carafes are easy to find.
A typical lifespan reported here is about 2-3 years with heavy use of 2-3 pots a day before issues like leakage or failure to turn on. With lighter use, some units have lasted for years without problems.
Yes, $19.99 is described as a strong value for a branded programmable coffee maker, especially compared with cheaper unbranded models at discount stores. It is considered worth it at this price despite a few usability annoyances.
It has a 2-hour auto shut-off. If that shut-off cannot be disabled, it is a dealbreaker for anyone who wants the pot to stay on longer.

The ONLY downside is you can't see the clock from across the kitchen. It's pointed upwards (terrible spot) so you have to be near the coffee maker to see it.
