This Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker is prized for consistently excellent rice, especially fluffy white rice, brown rice, and porridge, with very little effort. Long-term use reports are strong, with units still working well after 5, 10, 15, and even 26 years, and the warming function is praised for keeping rice fresh without drying or burning. It also has a retractable power cord, a tune when cooking finishes, and Made in Japan printed on the front. The main hesitation is price, since similar units have sold much lower before and the clock battery can eventually wear out.

  • The cooker can provide long service life with weekly use over many years.

  • The cooker can deliver perfect results for brown rice and porridge with strong performance.

  • The cooker can produce consistently even rice with minimal risk of undercooking or overcooking.

  • The cooker can keep rice warm for extended periods without burning or drying it out.

  • The clock battery can wear out after years and replacement can be inconvenient.

  • The higher price can feel hard to justify versus cheaper rice cookers for everyday rice.

  • The retractable power cord feature may be missing on newer units, based on the reported observation.

  • The model may be less suitable for specialty rice types beyond white rice.

This design is so outdated. Same design for past 20 years or more.

The French Press was invented 200 years ago, yet people still use it to make their coffee today.

One day (hopefully soon) Zojrushi will replace the toxic non-stick pot with a stainless steel unit and even more people will use it.

lacking R&D. Putting a stainless steel pot does not even require R&D. It's an easy swap. Besides that, chassis of that rice cooker is too old. I will buy cuckoo over this any day.

Please don't compared this with french press. You can still easily make rice on a pot invented 5000 years ago.

This was $122.60 in from Thanksgiving through March 19 of this year. (click deal history "all time" above the comments).
Those units at $122.60 were Used/Like New units, not Brand New. Maybe a relatively minor distinction but worth noting...

$200 to cook rice is ridiculous
You can buy something like this for under $20. They used to be $15. These works well for white rice.

These does not handle the specialty rice and/or brown rice. They also keep the rice warm longer without drying.

Is this the best Zojirushi? Made in Japan. The one everyone talks about?
Zojirushi is one of the top JP brands that make ricecooker. But this model is very old and of their lower end models. $190 you gotta be kidding me, I have this model few years ago and I think I spent slightly over $100. When you got a chance, go Japan and buy their domestic model, far more advanced (IH variable pressure, etc.) though you gotta plan to spend ~$700 on their top end models.

then YOU shouldn't buy it. Some people care about buying a single item for their rest of their lives and not worrying about it ever again. If you aren't at that stage yet - that's totally fine.

Wouldn't the Induction Heating model from Toshiba be a better overall deal? https://a.co/d/07ErR1RW
