but if you have more than a small flat yard or thick grass, you may want to look at the 800 series or higher with the dual blade, more torque, etc.
Community Reviews
This EGO self propelled mower looks best for smaller lawns and light to moderate grass, especially because the included battery adds a lot of value. It runs well, feels lighter than a steel deck mower, and the self propelled drive is handy, though the top speed can feel brisk. The main limitation is power, since the 600 series is the lowest torque model and thicker or larger yards may need an 800 series or dual blade setup. Battery pricing and durability are the biggest concerns, so it fits best when the yard size stays modest.
Common Questions (4)
It is the lowest-torque 600-series model, so it is best suited to light use and smaller, flatter lawns. For thicker grass or larger yards, the 800 series or higher with more torque and a dual-blade setup is the better fit.
The included battery is a major part of the value, especially if you already want an EGO battery in the 56V system. The mower itself is described as a good fit for smaller lawns, so the deal makes the most sense when the battery is part of the purchase decision.
For a small yard, the battery is reported to be more than enough. On larger or very thick lawns, runtime and cutting power can drop as the battery gets low, so a backup battery can help.
The self-propelled top speed feels closer to a jog than a fast walk, so many users will want to turn it down a bit. That makes it easier to control on normal lawns.

As a point of comparison, my previous mower, a Makita XML08 would require almost 6 5.0Ah batteries to do the whole yard.
I will also say the blade/motor speed drops a good bit when the battery starts running low. I may pick up another smaller battery to have a backup, but so far I'm pretty happy with the Ego. Definitely lighter than the steel-decked makita.
But, I am anxious to learn more.
