I'd be very careful with something like this unless you're 100% certain where things like sprinkler lines, or in my case, the fiber cable, are laid. Could end up with some very extensive (and expensive) repairs in your future.

Nah if you are damaging fiber lines with this that is 100% the utility company's fault. They should be buried much deeper than something like this can reach. Local code here is 12-18" for direct burial drops, but everyone does it 36" in conduit.

Two different people on my block have had their fios lines that were dropped from Verizon (before dumping everything to frontier) damaged from basic gardening chores. I know it isn't supposed to be that close to the surface, but there's what's code, and the there's the reality of the shitheads they send out to dig. I know for a fact that at one point when the soil got rocky they said "f*ck it" and laid it about 8" down from topsoil over the "hard" part. That was 12 years ago, factoring in erosion and rain runoff, it's now probably less than 5" from the surface.
